Cancellations

Fed up today. I have had 6 cancellations in the last 2 weeks and it looks like another 2, whoses balance are now due, will have to be cancelled today as they are showing no interest in ringing me back with a payment. Of the first 6, 2 rang to cancel no3 is ill and booking no4 is getting divorced. Nos 4 &5 just couldn't be bother to let me know. Thats getting on for £5000 in lost income!
I'm gonig to raise my deposit. I think also make the balance due 8 weeks before the holiday starts instead of 4. When is everyone else balance due by?

Holiday Cottage: I do a 50% deposit and full balance within 6 weeks of start of holiday and good mention of holiday insurance. I think you have been very unlucky to get that many in such a short time.

B&B: I do 50% deposit, refund if room relet, full payment liable if cancelled within 7 days and not relet.
