So, tell us about your breakfasts! And what award did you win?

It was an award set up by Visit Britain for hotels and guest accommodation for breakfasts. If you were scored very highly by the inspector on his/her in cognito visit, they sent you a Breakfast Award certificate sponsored by Kelloggs to hang on your wall. Complete surprise to me but it is nice to get something good in the post. There is supposed to be a competition in the New Year also sponsored by Kelloggs for the Breakfast Award winners.
We're a small B&B with just seven rooms but we offer a choice of five dishes for breakfast including a Low Fat Healthy Choice Option that is surprisingly popular. We have fresh fruit to start and there's baked items too like croissants or scones or muffins and then they can choose from the menu. Our eggs come from hens who live down the road and we get our sausage from the farm shop about a mile away so it's all very local. Even our tomatoes for most of the year are local.

Sounds lovely, Sharpe. =p~ Well done.
My B&B is much smaller than yours but I too try to offer a good choice and cater for individual requirements. Not everyone wants a full English everyday and people are always pleased to be offered something a bit different. My current guest wants tinned grapefruit (not something I thought anyone would ever want but in future I'll be prepared!) and a boiled egg - the first guest to ask for one.

We won too.
But isn't this just part of the joining up of the AA and VB gradings systems? The AA has both Breakfast and Dinner awards and has had them for years. The VB one may just be an extention of that and thousands of people will get one. Although our local Tourist Authority had never heard of it.

Congrats on winning.
I don't know if it is because of the amalgamation of the two groups but that sounds reasonable. I shall await my Dinner Award.
