Hi, I am fairly new to running a B & B (3 years) and joined the VE scheme. I only have 2/3 guest rooms so the scheme/advertising costs me about £275 a year. As I am located near Norwich in Norfolk and in the the southern part of the Norfolk Broads I have been approached to join 'Vist East of England', 'Visit Norfolk' and 'Visit Norwich' as well as South Norfolk Council tourist literature and the Norfolk Broads, to join all these bodies I have to be QA. Were I to join all organisations and appear on all their websites the cost to me would be £800+, without any guarantee of any business. It seems that it is 'hit and miss' on attracting potential guests, surely once you have paid to be part of VE then potential guests should be able to find you if they search on any of the other bodies (an easy link through). Whilst I would like to join these other schemes the cost is prohibitive, I would happily pay abit more for a better scheme - what do others think?
