Why is it a requirement to have net curtains (or blinds) on downstairs bathroom and toilet windows in self-catering accommodation?
Our cottage is in the countryside, is not-overlooked and the windows have obscured glass which I would have thought is more than adequate for decency reasons.
I do not know of anyone living in isolated cottages fitting net curtains to windows that have obscured glass (why bother fitting expensive obscured glass if you're fitting a net curtain?) In my opinion, net curtains in shower areas tend to get wet and look unattractive and cut down on the natural daylight.
Does everyone else do this?

Who says it is a requirement to have net curtains? Does this apply to bed and breakfast establishments too?

It's a minimum requirement for self-catering. I cannot imagine why there should be any difference for B & B's but there may be.

I have a very rural B&B i have put Voile over the obscured glass windows in the en-suites, country guests never bother with the curtains at all, but i'm afraid the Guests from "town" etc close the curtains day and night although only the cows have any veiws to any of the rooms
