For all of your out there who have been hassled and telephoned by the PPL endlessly trying to sell you a license, here is some good news. A tribunal has found that they have been over charging hotels since 2005 to the tune of £20 million pounds which will have to be re-paid!

A recent copyright tribunal case against Phonographic Performance Ltd (PPL) has found that it overcharged pubs, hotels and restaurants for the right to play music in public areas.
The PPL is issuing letters and claim forms to an estimated 41,000 hotels, restaurant and pub owners. If you are one of these hospitality operators who pays a license to the PPL, you should receive your letter by mid-June. If you have NOT received a letter by then, it is very important that you contact PPL directly in order to make a claim.
