I have been trying to find some bed runners, both singles and doubles, but have had little success - trawled through ebay and the internet. Only one supplier came anywhere close and the single was nearly £40, which is a bit more than I wanted to spend. Does anyone have any ideas?

I have used Mitre, Hall & Letts based down in Wales for some of my bed runners; the rest I have had made up by a local firm (and they don't charge £40.00! - that seems a bit on the steep side to me). The Mitre ones are qualited polyester, not pricey, come in 3 colours which co-ordinate with most schemes. They also supply excellent quality towels and bed linen too. I use these bed runners with cotton bed linen as a matter of personal preference, I think if they are used with shiny sateen type/polyester bedspreads or duvet covers (as is the current trend) - they might look a bit like a pimps palace - with Sanderson and Laura Ashley covers they look perfectly fine. Functional but not over the top.

If you have access to a sewing machine, or a friend or relative who does, these are very simply made and you could choose a fabric that complimented you room . Perhaps an ad in the local paper asking for someone to do a bit of sewing for you.

I purchased some nice bed runners from Next Teal and Red and they are only £15.00 each
