Are members aware that in order to employ part time assistance from school aged children (13 upwards) you must get a Work Permit and fill in a Safety Assessment!! Hours are also regulated and the things they can actually do is regulated. I point this out as your insurance isn't valid if you don't have a work permit.
Quite frankly I doubt many will bother giving school children these incredibly useful (to them and us) holiday jobs if they have to go through the palarva I just have!! #-o

Hi Joyful

The hoops we have to jump through!! The paperwork is such a pain and quite onerous for a small business to have to cover. You can't just use common sense anymore, everything has to be documented in triplicate just about.

Mind you, you deserve an award for finding a teenager these days that's prepared to do any hard work at all!

Also...

School age children are not allowed to work for more than 2 hours on a Sunday between 7am and 7pm by law apparently.

Dear Margaret,

If they are school age 13 - 16 then I suspect same applies i.e. permit, incase there was an accident etc. Its all about insurance as well as monitoring what young people are up to.
I would be loathe to risk it. It is relatively easy to get a permit just a bit of form filling.
