After much thought (I'm running a walking holiday business/B&B as opposed to a straightforward B&B) I decided it would be beneficial to join the quality assurance scheme. My entry appears on the Visit Britain and Enjoy England's websites but there are no photos or proper information there as yet. I have submitted the pics etc via my local tourist authority who contacted me about it. I haven't yet been assessed and was wondering how long it usually takes before someone does that? Should I expect the photos etc to appear before my quality rating?
Thanks. 8-[

Hi Sue. I've just had my Assessment Report from Visit Britain, took what I thought was a long time between my applying and the Inspector booking in to do his report - about 10 weeks. I was on their site as "Awaiting Grading" but had a photo of my property on. You should be able to contact your Data Steward (check who it is for your area, on the VB website) and he/she will amend your details on the VB website as necessary. Best of luck - at moment I feel I need it as its v.quiet.

It all came through some time ago and I received my certificates and plaque a few weeks later. Got my 4 stars and since signing up, have been getting referrals from another B&B which is always busy. Have rescued a number of people who were stranded without a bed (even after 9pm at night!) - it's been a very busy time in our town it seems.
Good luck with yours. I haven't yet had time to contact the other local B&Bs but it's on my list to do - seems like a good source of info, advice and bookings.
