I've just had my first 'no show'. We were expecting a couple of cyclists here last night, who booked and paid last Sunday (1 night only). They said they'd be here around 5pm but we thought they must have decided to eat before getting here. We gave up waiting at 10.30pm. I've tried to contact them by phone but was only able to leave messages.

It may be that they changed their mind, something cropped up, or something bad has happened. My husband took the initial call re the booking and we agree on the date that was booked so think it unlikely we've made a mistake.

I suppose this is something that does happen every now and again so I'm wondering how people deal with it. When someone doesn't turn up, and has already paid, do they usually let you know or do they just not turn up? What do you do if you had planned to go out - leave a note? Cancel your outing? Terms & conditions aside (not sure how many people actually bother to read them), when is it reasonable to give up waiting and retire for the night? (I did take the doorchime up with me in case they arrived really really late).

Turns out they had sent an email confirmation to another B&B by mistake. Presumably, the other B&B didn't realise it was confirming a telephone booking so didn't question it. The cyclists were slightly confued on arrival to find there was no garage for their cycles but still didn't twig they'd gone to the wrong place....... It was an expensive night for them as they ended up paying twice. I didn't offer arefund, spent a restless night worrying as well as having got everything ready, made cakes etc etc.

You deserve the payment. It was not your fault they went to the wrong accommodation! Dont' spend another restless night over it!

I offered them a free night if they booked and paid for 2 more.
