We've been using Eviivo Frontdesk for some time now, but have been looking carefully at the amount of commission we pay. We want to explore alternatives - but there is a bewildering array of possibilities. We have no way of 'narrowing down' the search because we have no knowledge of any other system. My experience tells me that all the software vendors will tell you how great their software is, but you don't really find out the nuances (good and bad) until you'e using it for real - and of course its impossible to test every available contender in this way.
So I thought I'd ask here; do you use a software solution to manage your rooms' availability? If so, would you be able to say which one, and what you think of it? We'd be especially interested to hear if you've switched from Frontdesk (which is a good system, in my view) to another, without losing functionality.
I should say that we definitely want one which enables (commission-free!) online bookings to be taken directly, and which updates the availability calendar automatically (ie we do not need to take any manual action to 'accept' the booking and enter it in our booking diary screen.)
