Hello there, can anyone offer advice on Insurance companies that provide cover for Holiday Homes, other than for use my myself. I had an unpleasant experience with one company who claimed that they covered my holidays or my families, not strangers from far off. This wasn't what they sold me so I have to be more careful. from Annie

Obviosuly one has to be careful with recommendations (as they are probably covered by some sort of licence that we have to pay some American organisation for) but I have happily used Schofields http://www.schofields.ltd.uk/ for a couple of years now and made 2 claims that were sorted within days. They were also half the price of the quote provided by the park I have my lodges on. Worth giving them a call?
Sorry, this might be too late to share, but just joined the forum. I have just bought a holiday cottage and sorted the insurance out with Towergate, and got a pretty good deal. Its specifically a holiday home policy, and allows you to let out to anyone for up to 20 weeks per year (which I think is the limit for tax reasons). Hope this helps.

In response to the others I used to be with Schofields and made a claim which was dealt with with no hesitation.
Two years ago I changed to Pavey Group (http://paveygroup.co.uk) as the price increased at Schofields.
It has not been necessary for me to make a claim with this company.

Well how things change eh? We used Schofields quite happily until this year when we had a burglary (along with 20 or so others on the site the same night). This time the claim wasn't handled very well at all, although they did pay up. However they then declined to continue cover at renewal leaving us in the lurch.
We started insuring with Intasure as our lodges came up for renewal, but now they too have decided not to insure lodges on our park because of the flood risk in our postcode (we are 400 feet above Windermere but we DO share the same postcode).
We had been resigned to using the park's own VERY expensive insurance but happily we are now with Pavey too - I hope this cold weather doesn't lead to a claim that allows me to judge THEIR claims handling first hand!
