If you are an ungraded London hotel, guesthouse or self-catering accommodation then Get London Graded, run by the London Development Agency, is offering subsidies to become graded under one of the national schemes run by VisitBritain or the AA.
Star rating has many benefits. It provides a level of reassurance for consumers. It provides a competitive edge for businesses because you are eligible to be promoted by Visit London and VisitBritain. And it means that London is offering the best experience and value for money to its visitors – especially important in the run up to the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games.
A team of advisors is now working with ungraded properties to help them through the assessment process and to become star rated. There are four stages: Visit from an LDA quality advisor – an ungraded property can request a three- to four-hour initial visit from an advisor to help prepare for the grading assessment process. Follow-up one-to-one business advice – this advice is tailored to individual business needs and may include business development, marketing or whatever is required.Workshops – a free workshop on quality development.Subsidised assessment fees – properties that choose to become graded receive a subsidy worth £400 over three years.
