VisitBritain, London 2012’s Nation & Regions Group (NRG) and the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) have come together to create a website destined to help tourism firms benefit from the Olympic Games.
The website – www.tourism2012games.org – offers a wealth of information on the Games and their potential impact on the tourism industry in Britain. It also provides advice on what can be done to maximise the benefit that can be drawn from the event and how best to be prepared in time to welcome the large influx of tourists that is expected.
The information includes practical information on how best to prepare your business, which includes tips on how to make your business stand out from the crowd; how to make sure that information about your business is easily accessible to – and understandable by – visitors; how to give the best possible welcome to tourists; and how to get your technology up to speed.
According to Sandie Dawes, chief executive of VisitBritain, the Olympic Games are a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity” that shouldn’t be missed, with a potential benefit to the tourism industry in Britain worth £2.1bn. But to make the most of it, all tourism-related businesses – accommodation providers included – need to start making preparations now in order to be ready in time for the Games.
