Government committed to helping tourism

Last Updated: 10 Jan 2011

VisitBritain recently announced that a new partnership was launched between itself and the tourism sector to help promote tourism. The partnership will see a joint private-public fund set up to implement a marketing programme over the next four years, with the Government pledging to match up to £50m in funding raised from the private sector.

The £100m resulting marketing fund would help VisitBritain promote Britain as an ideal tourism destination and take full advantage of the Royal Wedding, the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

A number of partners have already committed to the enterprise – British Airways, Radisson Edwardian Hotels, P&O, DFDS and lastminute.com – and VisitBritain continues to look for more potential partners from across the country to come on board the initiative with the aim to ensure that all regions and businesses of all sizes can join in and benefit from the campaign.

Those interested in getting involved should contact the partnerships team on partnerships@visitbritain.org.
