VisitBritain recently appealed to operators in the tourism industry to sign up to the Fair Pricing & Practice Charter for 2012 – the year of the Olympics. Many in the industry agree that over-inflated prices and unfair trading practices during the Olympic Games could bring long-term damage to the UK and its tourism industry.
The Fair Pricing & Practice Charter aims to provide a platform where businesses in the UK can declare their commitment to upholding a fair price structure and trading practices throughout 2012, and particularly during the Olympic Games.
The Charter covers areas such as pricing, a code of practice and quality, health and safety, accessibility, sustainability, employment, brand communications and confidentiality and ambush marketing. More information on each of these and the charter can be found on the VisitBritain website.
All signatories to the charter will be published on a range of websites, including VisitBritain’s, and will be made available to visitors, travel intermediaries and media, all of whom will be able to rely on this list to identify participating producers and suppliers.
VisitBritain has set up an online form to facilitate signing the Charter.
