There has been a growing trend in recent years for local authorities to introduce schemes whereby the level of a business’s compliance with the Food Law Code of Practice is assessed and scored. These schemes, commonly known as “Scores on Doors” schemes, have been introduced on the basis that if customers can see the extent to which an establishment complies with food safety and hygiene legislation, then they can make an informed decision as to whether to eat in that establishment.
